Quote: Oscar Wilde

After the first glass, you see things as you wish they were. After the second, you see things as they are not. Finally you see things as they really are, which is the most horrible thing in the world.

This is a quote attributed to Wilde on the topic of the potable "Green Fairy," absinthe. I stumbled onto it some time ago and have not been able to confirm its source, so odds are good enough that it’s apocryphal; nevertheless I find it compelling, as seeing things as they really are is an outstanding description of what generally bums me out in life.
