Quote: Drew Anderson
Depression is an indicator that your life sucks.
Dr. Anderson (a professor of psychology at the University of Albany) voiced this at an airport, I believe, and it was related to me by a third party; Drew says it’s paraphrased from Neil Jacobson. It is a simplification of the issue, obviously (psychotherapy would not be a very large field if this were the whole story), but it is an extremely compelling point to anyone who has experienced depression either first or second-hand. Because it’s true; one way or another, depression tends to indicate that there’s something wrong with your life, whether internal or external. If you can change that thing, things will probably look up. Not easy, but pretty straightforward.
